Monitor Technology: Chris Kerns (Supplement)
1 Pages Posted: 23 Jun 2009
Pat Tallon is the corporate attorney for Monitor Technology's parent company and has been asked to mediate a job-performance conflict between Chris Kerns, the manager of MT Engineering, and Shannon Allen, an engineering-support technician who works for Kerns.
Monitor Technology: Chris KERNS
Before meeting with Shannon Allen, Chris Kerns discussed the planned 11 o'clock meeting with Sidney Hall, NRE's director of human resources. Sidney empathized with Chris regarding the difficulties of dealing with Shannon, and encouraged Chris to avoid facing Shannon alone but rather to use the corporate attorney, Pat Tallon, as a mediator. On several occasions, Pat had been a very constructive force in resolving internal conflicts. Chris agreed to the proposal. Because Pat was in the building for the day, it only took a few moments to secure an end-of-day slot on Pat's calendar—4:00 p.m. Sidney volunteered to notify Shannon of the meeting change.
