This document is a report on the state of the art about reputation theories and applications. While many fields studied the subject, we put a specific accent on the social cognitive theory of reputation (see chapter 1). The social cognitive approach to the subject is to be considered the framework of this report and of the eRep project as a whole, as a consequence of the theory's explicative power and of the possibility it gives to build testable hypothesis and predictions on the phenomenon.
