Nursing homes are experiencing increases in the number of obese residents. This case report focuses on the bathing / showering process of an obese nursing home resident, highlighting the required staff time and estimating labor cost to provide this assistance. The preliminary findings reported here indicate obese residents require more than twice the staff time for bathing / showering, with the increased staff time resulting in economically significantly higher labor costs for care.
