Abstract

This report focuses on the Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRT) in Afghanistan ability to reduce insurgent activity and protect the local populace. PRT units have a bottom-up approach that allows greater flexibility in community oriented objectives, troop levels, and funding request. In addition this analysis will explain the differences across PRT units, and more specifically why American-led units have had more success completing their objectives than their North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies.
