Abstract

In his recent article, "Rawlsian Affirmative Action," Robert Taylor (2009) argues that most affirmative action policies are incompatible with John Rawls's theory of justice. In this response I argue that Taylor misinterprets the implications of Rawls's theory of justice, justice as fairness, for affirmative action policies and that most forms of affirmative action are compatible with Rawls's theory.
