Abstract

This paper is an update (through 2008) and expansion (to a medium-size city newspaper and to other than the front page) of Sigelman and Bullock's look at campaign coverage in the newspaper, radio, tv, and now online eras (APQ, 1991). The focus is on relative amounts of attention given to candidates, issues, and the horse race. Coverage of candidate traits continues to rise, but surprisingly, horse race coverage has declined. (NOTE: Because of my distance from the West and my teaching schedule, I might not be able to participate on Thursday.)
