In this appellate practitioner’s guide, the American Bar Association and the Counsel of Appellate Lawyers asked practitioners in each state appellate court system, federal circuit, and the United States Supreme Court to author a brief guide for practice in the relevant jurisdiction. This chapter addresses practicing law before the United States Supreme Court. The chapter provides guidance on the certiorari and merits stages before the Court as well as identifies additional online and print resources that can assist new practitioners before the Court.
