Abstract

This chapter for an edited collection (in French) is an attempt to present the UN Disability Convention and to assess what its impact might be in Canada following ratification. It covers some of the theoretical and historical background of the treaty, introduces some of its novel aspects as a human rights convention, and highlights the challenges that lie ahead for the Canadian legislature and judiciary, as well as civil society.
