An Executive War in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited's (BSNL) Tea Cup

A triangular war is fought aimlessly between the three groups of BSNL’ executives; the Indian telecom Service Direct Recruit officers, promoted officers and the management of BSNL. The fight between the direct recruits and the departmentally promoted executives was already on card since independence of India and continues as a perennial war between the two groups. The DOT was christened BSNL on 1st October 2000 with much fanfare but no change was made in the corporate management set up except a different name to the organization. BSNL continues to be a government department under the control and surveillance of DOT. It never took pains to convert itself as Business Sanchar Nigam Limited added with a brand corporate culture. This paper talks about the war fought between the promoted officers, direct recruit officers and the management of BSNL.
