Abstract

We live in a world of multiple crises and business is most often seen as part of the problem. In this paper, which concludes the book "Humanistic Management in Practice", we outline an alternative for business, as part of the solution. We present an analysis of the 19 cases in the book, which depict how business can be an agent for world benefit and human progress. The cases describe how, despite a multitude of adversities, businesses of all sizes, in a variety of industries, and in all regions of the world, can earn healthy profits, making them competitive players in a market environment, while putting people first. Based on these insights, we also outline an alternative paradigm for business and management, which we term humanistic.

Keywords: crisis management, humanistic business, humanism, objective function, business models
