We employ a standard general equilibrium framework to estimate implicit amenity prices and associated quality of life values for 110 regions in England and Wales in 2006. The results suggest a quality of life range of almost £10,000 per annum for the average household. Excluding London as a special case, the gure would still be in excess of £6000. This represents a substantial increase over earlier estimates based on 1995 data, a nding that is consistent with evidence of rising prices of nonmarket goods in the US.
