Abstract

According to an extensive and growing literature we are in the twilight of bureaucracy. Names of the supposed new organizational form include: post-bureaucratic; post-modern; post-hierarchical; and the virtual corporation. This paper considers this claim of actual or potential epochal change by evaluating supportive and contrary evidence.
