Abstract

Based upon a research project directed for the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life (forthcoming), this paper documents the explosion in public policy advocacy by national religious organizations and explores the scope, characteristics, and issue agenda of this "religious lobby. The paper offers theoretical explanations for the growth and sophistication of the religious advocacy infrastracture in the nation's capital and explores its significance for American politics.
