This research tries to study the effect of social capital on sustainable development and offer a model for assessing such relationship. In this respect, it initially deals with the concepts, dimensions and components of social capital as independent variable and sustainable development as dependent variable.
The results from the research showed that there is a there is a significant and positive relation between social capital and its dimensions and sustainable development and its components, i.e. the increase in social capital and its dimensions of social, cultural, political and communicational would lead in the improvement of sustainable development and its components as economical and financial sustainability, institutional sustainability and ecological sustainability.
