Each person is unique in terms of the integration of individual’s traits and competences vs. assigned targets, and so is our Foundryman. The motivation to fruitful deployment of this integration-ability, to the rescue of a given problem, is the combined person’s responsibility @stimulus and organisational competences @environment. The organisation must provide a goal (achievable but smart target), and an access to customer’s voice. The (foundry) worker must garner the extra edge, so as to extend the organisation’s targets to a level which is closer to that of customer’s expectation. For realizing this success, people must be properly propelled to narrow the gap between possibilities and prospects, both measured w.r.t. customer’s angle. This paper places the challenge before the foundrymen, and attempts to provide a worthwhile solution for implementation.

The mechanism is recommended in a 4DM paradigm, based upon the process management methodology, the output part of which may be displayed, for identified parameters and metrics, in the forms of Charts/ graphs. Both the process owners and managers can have simultaneous access to process performance indicators, and a glance at actual performance of stipulated Key Performance objectives will not only validate the process maturity, but also initiate a timely action. The efficacy of this stimulus is termed as the ‘xtra edge’ leading to an ‘xcellence effect’
