Abstract
The article analyses the methods courts use when citing judgments from other jurisdictions. It compares the judgments of the the most outstanding judge of modern times, Lord Bingham, with those of the US Supreme Court, and shows how Lord Bingham and Justices Breyer and Kennedy have developed a common methodology.
