Abstract

This article discusses how financial services can support economic development and poverty reduction. Access to financial services is a fundamental tool for improving living standards by enabling the poor to better manage their finances and increase their income-generating abilities. This article discusses the practical challenges in increasing access to key financial services. It also reviews recent industry and regulatory developments and their impact.
