Abstract

Conflict observations are not independent of each other, therefore studies are often statistically weak or simply invalid. With military dataset from Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam, I analysis the interaction between events utilizing the dependence as an advantage. For Viet Cong & Taliban activity, I find that the local interaction between events is the essential factor. On that basis I conclude that in conventional insurgencies, attacks are mainly coordinated at a local level.
