Abstract

This article discusses the works council’s role in the determination of a company’s CSR strategy and the implementation thereof throughout the organisation. The association of the works councils of multinational companies with a base in the Netherlands has recently developed a ‘Model Code on Co-Determination and CSR’.

Author: Tineke Lambooy, Associate Professor at Utrecht University, the Netherlands (subjects: Mergers & Acquisitions; Legal Aspects of Globalisation – CSR); Senior Researcher in the field of CSR at the Center for Sustainability of Nyenrode Business University; obtained a PhD for her study 'Corporate Social Responsibility. Legal and Semi-Legal Frameworks Supporting CSR' in 2010. Dr Lambooy is a member of the Sustainable Companies project team.

The author is a member of the project team of the Sustainable Companies project at the Faculty of Law, University of Oslo.
