Abstract

The Australian Research Council’s controversial ranking of journals has provided a tool to decide where an author should publish her/his journal article. This article aims to provide some further, more balanced, guidance on journal article publishing for Australian authors.

The articles can be divided into two parts. First, I highlight some truisms on matters to be considered in the context of legal writing and publishing of journal articles. I then present some findings from my research into the consequences of the ARC’s ranking system and related matters.

Keywords: Publishing, Legal research, Journal ranking
