Abstract

In this paper we seek to measure Australian university accounting departments based on the productivity of their current faculty. Measurement is based on published journal articles for the period 1992-1997. Publication data is obtained from the Accounting and Tax Index, ABI Inform and directly from a set of Australian and New Zealand journals. A range of publication measures are used including an unweighted measure, two quality based measures, an Australian/New Zealand measure, and a professional journal measure. Rankings are presented for the 15 leading Australian universities in each category.

JEL Classification: M40
