Abstract

Development of any kind is always linked to one kind of innovation or the other. In fact, it is posted that the abolition of slave trade in Europe at the time was due to the impact of patent. For a country like Nigeria to develop in all fours, there is an urgent need to have a vibrant patent system and a strong protective regime. This paper intends to look at the history of patents in Nigeria, what are patentable, and the rights of patents holders.

Keywords: patentable,invention, rights, holders, Nigeria
