Abstract

Access to justice is an essential element in the democratic process. Whatever rights and responsibilities exist they are worthless unless it is possible for all to access the law and the courts in order to ensure that those rights and responsibilities are fully observed. The legal aid for those who can not afford other means of access to justice has therefore become an essential component in the elements of developed societies. However, financial crisis, rates of globalization and changes in government and out look cross the global have provided a range of pressures on all public spending including the provision of legal aid. The International Symposium on November 5th in Seoul will consider these issues against the importance of ensuring justice for all.
