Abstract

This article was written to assist law librarians and archivists in determining the copyright status of works in the library's collection. With that information, the library is in a better position to decide what uses can be made of the works and to recognize the consequences if the library makes an erroneous decision. It concludes by applying the suggested method to a hypothetical example.
