Abstract

Why, after nearly a century of defeat, did health care reform pass in 2010? Having written a book about the failure of the Clinton health plan, The Road to Nowhere, I recently penned a follow-up article titled "The Road to Somewhere (Hacker 2010). I cannot summarize the full argument here, but I can lay out what I see as the four biggest reasons why things were so differenct in 2010 - and where I see the debate going next.

Keywords: health care reform, the Affordable Care Act
