Abstract

The reporting on corporate social responsibility (CSR) has gone through a lot of changes over the years. With no clear or generally accepted definition for the term CSR, many academics in the accountancy profession think the reporting of CSR does not matter as it costs companies a lot of money to produce them.

These short-term cost that many accountants associate with CSR reporting is offset by the advantages that business organizations gain in terms of customer loyalty, employee commitment, and increases in sales and profit in the long term. The article deals mostly into CSR issues like; corporate governance, corporate reputation and advantages companies gain in reporting on CSR.

Keywords: corporate social responsibility, accountants, stakeholders, environment, corporate reputation
