Abstract

The text analyzes Hispanic territorialization processes in the province of Antioquia (Nueva Granada) during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The central hypothesis revolves around the proposal on the role of urban areas as articulated in the construction elements of the territory and as indicators of effective control of it. Thus, this period is analyzed for the existence of a multidirectional relationship between space and society, in which none of the two commponents are passive and independent of the other.
