Abstract

This paper demonstrates that, even as troops in Iraq and Afghanistan come home and al-Qaeda becomes increasingly weak and ineffectual, the scope of civil liberties in America to contract. The National Defense Authorization Act of 2012, which authorizes the indefinite military detention of U.S. Citizens arrested on U.S. soil, is explained within the context of the advancing general curtailment of basic freedoms.
