Abstract

This demonstration displays an early French Minitel terminal adapted for use as a Twitter client. The client will be set to scroll all tweets that include the TPRC hashtag and TPRC-related keywords for the duration of the conference. This demonstration is designed to provoke conversation about the role of openness in fostering digital innovation, and coincides with the death of the Minitel network, set to be shut down by France Telecom on June 30, 2012.

Keywords: minitel, history, path dependence, platform, protocol
