Abstract
This paper describes the GBSI Initiative and analyzes its merit. It compares the GBSI Initiative with two outcome documents -- the "Tunis Commitment" and the "Tunis Agenda for the Information Society" -- that were promulgated at the WSIS2 Summit and subsequently adopted in March 2006 by the UN General Assembly. The paper discusses the extent to which the GBSI Initiative is reflected in these WSIS2 outcome documents. Finally, it assesses the prospects for the GBSI Initiative’s eventual implementation, as well as future directions for ITSO.
