Abstract:     
In this opinion piece, we argue that value-adding engagement by investment managers could be enhanced through 1) relatively small portfolios, 2) use of performance measures that are sufficiently long-term as to permit stewardship efforts to bear fruit, and 3) appropriate rewards for outperformance.
