Abstract

Recent and proposed changes in the Federal Reserve’s monetary control procedures include the shift from a funds rate instrument to a non-borrowed reserve instrument in October 1979, reserve requirement reform embodied in the Monetary Control Act of 1980, and the consideration that has been given to a move from lagged to contemporaneous reserve requirement regimes.
