Abstract

Weldability and Hardenability are the two interrelated terms.

It is generally said that materials with good hardenability have poor weldability and vice versa. But no quantitative analysis has been done in this regard. This paper is an effort to correlate weldability and hardenability quantitavely. It has been mathematically verified that Weldability varies as the inverse of Hardenability.

Keywords: weldability , welding of steels, carbon equivalent, hardenability
