Abstract

De succesvolle dagvaarding door Milieudefensie van het Nederlandse moederbedrijf van Shell, naar aanleiding van milieuschade in Nigeria (DS 12 Oktober), was poepsimpel. Een veroordeling is een ander paar mouwen en niet noodzakelijk aantrekkelijk.

Suing the Shell holding in Holland is not rocket science. It is a simple application of the Brussels I Regulation. Getting a conviction on the basis of EU law, however, will be a different challenge. Note this short Op-Ed is available in Dutch only - although I also report it on my blog.
