Abstract

The art of crowdsourcing is in the design of aggregation strategies: the ways of filtering and combining the results of human divergent thinking. That is, the way of designing the network. There is a spectrum of strategies with respect to coordination. At one extreme, participants do not interact with each other. At the other end, they know each other and are co-present. In between, participants know each other only through electronically mediated social networks that are designed to encourage some aspects of creative collaboration. This is the alternative we explore here.
