Abstract

Increasing efforts are being made towards the promotion of a culture of philanthropic and social responsibility within Mexican companies and organizations. These organizations not only work to support themselves, but are also engaging in actions and attitudes which ease and promote development. These focus mainly on ethical processes, the quality of life of their employees, links with society and care and respect for the environment.

This qualitative project presents the evidence provided by the fifty-three Mexican companies which have most often been certified as Socially Responsible Companies (SRC) and have displayed this on their websites. (10 companies have achieved this distinction seven times, 10 companies six times, 14 companies five times and 19 companies four times). It is noteworthy that not all of them have done so in the same way; their strategies are different, mainly as a result of their respective business interests.
