Abstract

The patterns by which information is produced and consumed are strongly linked to social conditions. This paper examines how national boundaries affect the behavior of Twitter’s user-base. It aims to quantify the effect of various social, economic and political conditions on user interests while expanding a general and applicable model of the use of social media, e.g. Twitter, to alternate policy areas not limited to international development and relations.

Keywords: Social media and policy analysis, international development, formation of preference
