Abstract
This paper investigates the growth and development of Black bookstores in the United States over the past 50 years using statistical data such as incorporation dates, bankruptcy dates, and location by state and metropolitan area. Specifically, it looks at how the number of stores has grown, declined, and evolved over this time estimating the total market size, reasons for growth and decline, and future prospects for Black bookstores.
