The Supreme Court and Unpacking White Privilege

Abstract
This paper argues race functions as an ideological fault line in the discourse of democracy in America. Research suggests the use of race benefits whites to a greater extent than African Americans. Supreme Court decisions are excellent points to unpack the nature and varied ways white privilege influences race discourse. Race as an ideological framework(RAIF) is used to analyze whether or not the decisions of the Supreme Court have fostered and maintained the interests of whites in America’s racial narrative. This narrative contributes to and reflects the assorted ways America construction and reconstruction old and new mechanisms of the usage of race. The central thesis is that older and new forms of racial discourse advance the opportunities and status of whites at the expense of those of African Americans.
