This article incorporates substantial passages from Thomas Aquinas’s Summa Theologica on law, within a broader discussion of many enduring philosophical questions and debates about the nature of law, the obligation to obey law, the relationship between morality and law, the authority of lawmakers, etc. It is intended primarily as a teaching tool.
