Abstract

Professor and Mrs. Hanke provide an incisive perspective on the founding fathers and their writings. Instead of considering them with our current views, bias and prejudice, they concentrate on their own original and essential meaning. Many are surprised to learn that the word "democracy" is used neither in the declaration of independence, nor in the constitution. In fact, the founding fathers feared every form of tyranny, including the tyranny of the majority. This essay must be read and considered by all those who think that they have the right to influence society.
