Abstract

This paper discusses the recent urbanization policies and progress in China & India. The paper aims at suggesting prescription for sustainable growth of urban centers in world’s two largest nations. China & India 4 share six & three among world’s largest 30 cities respectively. Time immemorial cities are the source of civilization and culture, environments in which a multitude of intellectual, economic, social and political activities have flourished. To thrive it further and work efficiently, we need cities that are sustainable, capable to provide access to work, services and security, social and cultural space for full human development. Among emerging economies, China and India’s GDP has grown leaps and bound. The paper issues perceptions on progress of urbanization in both country and submit prescription for sustainable & equitable growth.
