The case is based upon the Radio taxi operations in Jaipur city. The city attracts a lot of domestic as well as international tourists. In spite of the size and growth in this segment, the relative segment is shrinking due to the predefined travel itineraries. The growth segment remains the local and non tourist commuters. One of the growth drivers of Radio taxi operations in the city is the operation pattern of Auto rickshaws which operate not as per organized model but on the basis of available opportunities. One of the early operators bridged the gap between this unorganized operating segment and the expensive call taxis. However with increased number of players, increased operating cost, competitive services and competitive pricing is putting a pressure on the largest player in this market. Strategy needs to be developed to keep the market share intact.
