Abstract

This article stems from a presentation given at PLI’s 29th Annual Section 1983 Civil Rights Litigation conference in New York. The piece examines two recent Supreme Court decisions, Connick v. Thompson and Ashcroft v. Iqbal, with an eye to their impact on how lower federal courts will assess single-incident municipal liability claims and claims against supervisors in the wake of the new constraints imposed by these cases.
