Abstract

In this article we present an overview of profiling techniques, emphasizing the need to address the crime profiling scientifically, as a validation of the degree of accuracy which the information contained in a forensic psychological profile have.

The main purpose of profiling techniques is to generate information on individuals suspected of having committed some type of crime (the most common crimes that requires the use of profiling are the ones committed by violence: sexual crimes, serial murder, robbery followed by death of the victim, kidnapping, injury, arson, bombings, computer crimes, etc.) by analyzing the scene of the crime that occurred.
