Abstract

Rape is one of great violence with social gravity. Social danger of the crime of rape is even more evident with impunity as an act of such gravity endanger future sexual freedom, physical integrity, health or even life of many people.

In Romania, every year are accused of committing sexual assault about 1220 persons, comparable to that reported by victims and handled in the first instance by the police. Of these, receive the final sentence, depending on the circumstances of the aggression and attitude of the victims, a rate of only 77.4%.

Statistics tells us that, for women, the risk of being raped is 1 to 4 and that anyone can become a victim of rape, whether it has aged 1 to 90 years.

According to statistics made by the General Inspectorate of Romanian Police nationwide in the first five months of this year there were 960 rapes, which means that every 4 hours there is a sexual aggression.
