Abstract

This chapter addresses the interaction between the theoretical insights on substantive and multidimensional equality on one hand and the legal practice under the European Convention on Human Rights on the other. The intriguing questions arising out of this interaction are:

1. Can the gaps between the theoretically elaborated insights related to multidimensionality and the practical application of Article 14/Protocol 12 be bridged and if so, how?

2. Are there any lessons from the unique situation under the Convention that have a relevance to the new multidimensional future of EU equality law?
