Abstract

One can argue that discrimination still exist even after the civil rights movement. Many researchers have measured discrimination concerning housing, predatory lending and education. However, only few research studies were conducted based on credit score information, which showed gaps between whites and minorities within housing and lending. Credit score information is considered a vital instrument used by banks, employers, and property mangers.Research shows a connection between low credit scores and predatory lending. Does the credit reporting agencies impact the lives of minorities by supporting housing segregation and discrimination through credit scores? Minorities typically have lower credit scores, therefore the minority population continues to suffer from segregation and discrimination under the blanket of institutional or structural racism.
