Abstract

With the interference of internet in our day to day life, surfing the websites and portals for necessary information has become a key habit of every individual. In the same order, the financial portals play vital role in providing key information and valuable suggestions to the investors, market participants and academicians. Though there are many financial portals on the internet, hardly any of them is able to fulfill the expectations and requirements of visitors’.

This research is aimed at knowing the expectations of visitors from an ideal financial portal and finding the factors which affect their interest in visiting a financial portal. This will help the researcher to know the behavior of visitors and accordingly redesign a financial portal.

In the research, the responses of individual visitors/users of the financial portals have been analyzed through factor analysis, cross tabulation etc. and concluded that most of the visitors visit a financial portal for the information regarding the Stock market. The factors identified in the researcher that attract the visitors’ interest in a financial portal are Contents, Design, Display, Interaction and References. Therefore, the moderator of a financial portal should concentrate on delivering the appropriate and authenticated information on the portal.
