Abstract

English Abstract: The monograph offers the results of several, mainly psychosemantic, experiments on the image of imported goods in the minds of Bulgarian people. We make also some comparisons with Romania. The experiments are completed with excourse in recent history with a reference to the theatre plays and to textbooks on commerce of the period of Bulgarian Revival, as an attempt to reveal some traits of national culture.

Our general conclusion from the study is that there is still a significant rate of inertia in Bulgarian society. Customers in Bulgaria are not very flexible in adopting imported goods consuming practices and reflecting facts about the products.

Bulgarians place first the country of origin, sometimes ignoring facts about the quality of goods.

Reality shows that with the advancement of economic globalization there increases the number of high quality goods produced in countries, traditionally regarded as ''low quality countries'' -- i.e. China or Vietnam. Bulgarian customers still do not take into consideration this fact, and share traditional views about the countries.
